      1

What is the melting point of your rapeseed wax — is it suitable for jar or pillar candles?

Bio Green Wax supplies rapeseed wax (also known as canola wax) in two primary melting point grades: Container/Jar grade (melting point 52–58°C) — suitable for glass jar container candles and wax melts; and Pillar/Votive grade (melting point 58–64°C) — a harder formulation suitable for freestanding pillar and votive candles.
The container grade is our most popular product, widely used by UK and European natural candle brands as a UK/EU-origin alternative to imported soy or paraffin wax. Full melting point and technical specifications are confirmed in the CoA for every production batch. Contact our candle technical team for grade-specific guidance.
      2

Is your rapeseed wax derived from UK or EU-origin rapeseed oil?

Yes. Bio Green Wax specialises in rapeseed wax produced from UK and EU-origin rapeseed oil, making it the preferred natural wax choice for candle brands emphasising local sourcing, reduced food miles, and European supply chains. UK-origin rapeseed wax supports British farming and aligns with post-Brexit sustainability and provenance marketing narratives. EU-origin (primarily Germany, France, and Poland) rapeseed wax is also available.
Origin certificates are provided with every shipment. For brands making UK or EU origin claims on their candle labels or marketing, we provide full traceability documentation from farm to finished wax.
      3

What is the minimum order quantity for bulk rapeseed wax?

Our minimum order quantity for rapeseed wax is 25 kg (1 carton or bag) for small candle makers and initial orders. Pallet quantities (typically 400–600 kg) are available for growing candle businesses. Full container loads (20 MT) are available for large-scale candle manufacturers and offer the best per-kg pricing. Trial samples of 1–5 kg are available for wax performance testing.
High-volume candle producers can access long-term supply agreements with dedicated production slots, priority allocation, and tiered pricing. Please contact our candle industry sales team with your expected monthly volume for a tailored supply proposal.
      4

What fragrance loading capacity does rapeseed wax support as a percentage?

Our container-grade rapeseed wax supports fragrance loading of 7–10% by weight, with optimal performance at 8% for most commercial fragrance oil types. Pillar-grade rapeseed wax supports fragrance loads of 5–8%. Rapeseed wax's natural composition allows it to bind fragrance oils effectively, contributing to good hot throw performance in container candles.
As with all natural waxes, we recommend small-batch fragrance testing with your specific fragrance oil to confirm optimal load and avoid sweating or seepage. Our technical support team can provide fragrance compatibility guidance and a recommended burn test protocol.
      5

What is the current price for rapeseed wax per kg or per tonne?

Rapeseed wax pricing is linked to European rapeseed oil market prices and hydrogenation processing costs, which fluctuate seasonally with agricultural cycles. Bio Green Wax provides competitive pricing for UK and EU-origin rapeseed wax. Rapeseed wax is generally comparably priced to soy wax, with a UK/EU origin premium. For large-volume buyers, long-term contract pricing provides significant savings over spot purchases.
To receive a current market quotation, please contact our sales team with your required grade, volume, and destination. We also offer price-fixed annual supply agreements for candle manufacturers seeking cost predictability.
      6

Is your rapeseed wax non-GMO and sustainably sourced?

Yes. European rapeseed (including UK and EU varieties used in our rapeseed wax production) is commercially grown as a non-GMO crop in the UK and EU. Non-GMO declarations are available for all our rapeseed wax grades. For sustainability credentials, our rapeseed wax is produced from ISCC or RSPO-certified supply chains where available, ensuring responsible agricultural sourcing and traceability.
Rapeseed wax also has a significantly lower transportation carbon footprint for European buyers compared to imported soy or coconut wax. Origin and sustainability certificates are provided with every shipment. Contact us for full sustainability documentation.
      7

What is the FFA content and colour (Gardner) of your rapeseed wax?

0 Red / 10 Yellow (approximately Gardner 2–4), delivering an off-white to cream natural appearance. The natural colour of rapeseed wax is slightly more golden/cream compared to soy wax, which some candle brands use as a natural aesthetic feature. For brands requiring a whiter wax, we can supply a bleached or colour-improved grade. All colour and FFA parameters are confirmed in the CoA with every lot.
Please share your colour tolerance specification when enquiring so we can confirm suitability.
      8

Does rapeseed wax deliver good cold and hot scent throw for scented candles?

Yes. Rapeseed wax delivers good cold throw and a warm, even hot throw in container candle applications. Its natural structure allows effective fragrance binding at recommended load levels (7–10%), and it releases fragrance progressively during burning for a consistent and lasting scent experience. Hot throw performance is comparable to soy wax and is strongly influenced by fragrance oil quality, wick selection, and jar diameter.
Rapeseed wax is praised by UK candle makers for its natural, soft burn profile and clean flame. Our technical team can provide wick recommendations and burn test guidance specific to your jar size and fragrance type.
      9

Is your rapeseed wax vegan certified for use in natural candle products?

Yes. Rapeseed wax is 100% plant-derived from rapeseed (canola) oil and contains no animal-derived ingredients, making it inherently vegan and cruelty-free. Vegan Society certification or equivalent third-party vegan documentation is available on request. Rapeseed wax is increasingly popular with UK and European natural and vegan candle brands who also prefer its local origin over imported tropical waxes.
For brands making vegan claims on candle labels or through retailers such as The Vegan Society-approved product ranges, we provide all necessary documentation to support your certification. Contact our compliance team for the appropriate vegan certification paperwork.
      10

Do you supply rapeseed wax in flakes, pellets, or blocks?

Bio Green Wax supplies rapeseed wax in natural flakes (the standard format for most candle makers), small pastilles/pellets (for automated production and dispensing systems), and solid blocks (for high-volume melting applications). Flakes are packaged in 25 kg cartons or bags, pellets in 25 kg bags or 1,000 kg supersacks, and blocks in custom sizes on request.
Flakes are recommended for small to medium candle producers due to ease of measurement and melting. Pellets suit large-scale automated facilities. Please specify your preferred format and production scale when placing your enquiry, and we will recommend the most appropriate option.
      11

Can rapeseed wax be used in cosmetics — balms, body butters, and skincare?

Yes. Rapeseed wax (also listed as Brassica Napus (Rapeseed) Oil, Hydrogenated under INCI nomenclature) is used in cosmetic formulations as a natural thickener, emollient, and texturising agent in lip balms, body butters, solid moisturisers, and skin balms. Bio Green Wax supplies cosmetic-grade rapeseed wax with full INCI documentation, EU Cosmetics Regulation compliance, and Halal/Kosher certification.
Its European origin and non-GMO status make it an excellent choice for natural and organic cosmetics brands. Contact our cosmetics ingredients team for grade-specific CoA, INCI declaration, and application guidance.
      12

What is the glass adhesion quality of rapeseed wax in container candle applications?

Rapeseed wax performs moderately well for glass adhesion in container candles. It is generally better than soy wax in warm environments but may show some wet spots (pull-away from glass) in cold climates or with thick-walled jars.
To maximise glass adhesion with rapeseed wax, we recommend: pouring at 58–65°C (approximately 5–10°C above the melting point), using pre-warmed glass containers (room temperature, not cold), and allowing candles to cool slowly away from drafts and cold surfaces. A small addition (3–5%) of coconut oil or coconut wax to the blend can further improve adhesion. Our technical guide provides a detailed pour protocol.
      13

What packaging formats are available for rapeseed wax supply?

Rapeseed wax from Bio Green Wax is available in: 25 kg corrugated cartons (flakes), 25 kg multi-wall paper bags (flakes or pellets), 500 kg and 1,000 kg supersacks/jumbo bags for large-volume buyers, and pallet quantities (typically 400–600 kg per pallet). All packaging is clearly labelled with product name, grade, non-GMO status, origin, net weight, batch number, and production date.
Palletised orders are stretch-wrapped for safe container transport. We can also arrange private-label bag printing for high-volume customers. Please specify your preferred packaging format, quantity, and delivery destination when placing your enquiry.
      14

Can rapeseed wax be blended with coconut wax or soy wax for hybrid formulations?

Yes. Rapeseed wax is an excellent base for hybrid natural wax formulations. Popular blends include: Rapeseed/Coconut (50:50 or 60:40) — combining rapeseed's European origin with coconut's superior fragrance performance and glass adhesion; Rapeseed/Soy (variable ratios) — a fully plant-based blend with good scent throw; and Rapeseed/Beeswax — adding honey scent, extended burn time, and additional hardness.
Bio Green Wax supplies all individual wax components and offers custom blending services for high-volume buyers (minimum 1 MT per blend). Our candle technical team can help design a hybrid formulation to meet your specific performance targets.
      15

What is the shelf life and storage requirement for rapeseed wax?

Rapeseed wax has a shelf life of 18–24 months from the production date when stored properly. It should be kept in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment at temperatures below 30°C, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and strong-smelling chemicals. Due to its higher oleic acid content compared to soy wax, rapeseed wax is slightly more susceptible to oxidation over extended storage — FIFO stock rotation is therefore recommended.
Sealed packaging prevents moisture contamination. Store bags and cartons off the ground on pallets, with adequate air circulation. Full storage guidance is provided in the product SDS and on packaging labels.
      16

What is the recommended pour temperature for rapeseed wax candle making?

For container-grade rapeseed wax, we recommend melting to 65–70°C, adding and mixing fragrance oil at 60–65°C, and pouring into room-temperature glass containers at 58–62°C. Pouring at the correct temperature is critical for surface quality and glass adhesion. Avoid pouring below 55°C as this causes rough or lumpy surfaces. Allow candles to cool at ambient room temperature (20–22°C) for at least 24 hours before trimming the wick and burning.
Pillar-grade rapeseed wax requires a slightly higher pour temperature of 62–68°C. Our full candle-making technical guide with pour protocol, cooling tips, and wick recommendations is available from our technical support team.
      17

Is rapeseed wax suitable for tealights, wax melts, and pillar candles?

Yes. Rapeseed wax is suitable for all three formats. For tealights, our container grade (52–58°C melting point) works well in standard aluminium tealight cups with the correct cotton wick. For wax melts, both container and pillar grades work well, with pillar grade preferred for climates or transport conditions where firmness is important.
For pillar candles, our pillar-grade rapeseed wax (58–64°C) or a rapeseed/beeswax blend provides the required hardness for freestanding candles. Bio Green Wax technical data sheets include application-specific guidance for all three formats. Contact our technical team for application-specific recommendations and wick selection guidance.
      18

What certifications are available for rapeseed wax — organic, ISCC?

Bio Green Wax offers rapeseed wax with the following certifications depending on the grade and supply source: ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) — confirming sustainable agricultural sourcing and chain of custody; RSPO Mass Balance — for palm-adjacent supply chain sustainability claims where applicable; Organic certification — ECOCERT or equivalent, for organic-certified rapeseed oil sourced varieties; Non-GMO declaration — standard for all our European rapeseed wax grades; and Vegan/cruelty-free declaration.
For UK-market candle brands, we can also provide Red Tractor-affiliated rapeseed origin documentation. Please specify your required certifications when enquiring and we will confirm availability.
      19

What are your lead times for rapeseed wax supply to UK and EU candle manufacturers?

Lead times for rapeseed wax to UK and EU candle manufacturers depend on production availability and order size: for standard stocked grades in 25 kg cartons or bags, we can typically dispatch within 5–10 business days. For pallet or full container load orders, lead times are 2–4 weeks from booking confirmation. For UK buyers, we work with UK-based distribution partners for same-week delivery of smaller orders.
For EU buyers in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, and the Nordics, we have logistics partnerships enabling 1–2 week delivery windows for in-stock grades. Long-term contract buyers benefit from pre-positioned inventory and guaranteed delivery slots.
      20
